When You Stop and Look Around Life is Amazing

Rushing around causes me to have tunnel vision. How about you?

I have actually passed friends on the road and had them tell me later that they saw me and waved, and they could tell that I must have been really busy because I didn’t even notice them. I think most people hit the ground running from morning to evening and at the end of the day they couldn’t tell you what they had accomplished, if anything. Because we are in such a hurry we miss out on little things that God has placed all around us for our enjoyment. Instead of life in the fast lane, I want to encourage you to slow down, breathe deeply and take time to soak in the beauty all around. The blue skies, rolling hills, bursts of color in flowers and trees, sunsets, smiles and friendly faces.

These words from a friend who passed from this life to the next sums it up in such a beautiful way: “Life is so wonderful, regardless of any circumstances I may face. I see the beauty in everything. . .like right now. . . I could stare at these beautiful colorful leaves flying and floating in the air for hours as if it’s the first time I’ve experienced it. I walk into a grocery store and see the array of colors and shapes of the produce section and the smells from the deli and the tastes from the free samples and think I’m on vacation. I see a family with small children that I know must have been adopted and I want to run up to them and hug them and say “congratulations on your new life.” There is such joy out there for all of us to experience as long as we are not wasting our time on worry. Will cancer take me out this year, next year, ten years from now or might I even die in a tornado? I don’t know and it doesn't matter. While I’m here I want to remind others to stop and look around because life is amazing.” - Denise Trice (passed away August, 2014)
