Today Is A One-Time Deal

"All of us tend to put off living, dreaming of some magical rose garden over the horizon instead of enjoying the roses that are blooming outside our windows today." - Dale Carnegie

Do you remember the old song, "Standing On The Corner?" It was made famous by Dean Martin back in the '60's. Well, instead of standing on the corner watching all the girls go by, I like to sit on a bench and watch all the people go by. "People watching" often makes me wonder just how many of the men and women that pass by are simply existing. The world is full of people who will go their whole lives and not actually live one day. I don't intend on being one of them, what

about you?

"Our life is today. When we lay our head on the pillow tonight, this day will never come back - this is a one-time deal. We will miss it if we wait for the illusive perfection of tomorrow, next week or next year. In the eternal scheme of things, today is just a shallow breath. But without each breath linked to another, we cannot fulfill our destiny." - Barbara A. Croce

Do you want to lead others to happiness? Ask someone to tell you their purpose in life. "If you've ever asked someone what their purpose in life is, you may have gotten a blank stare and silence. It's not like asking people to name their job. They are going through the motions of their lives and they know what they do every day, especially at their places of employment, but the word in your question that throws them off is "purpose." Purpose is the reason for doing something or why it insists. Working at a job is necessary to earn money to support yourself and your family, but isn't your purpose. Living purposefully means much more than your job. Here's a hint - it likely will have something to do with love, compassion, peace, consciousness, truthfulness, meaning, awakening, and courage. Figure out your purpose and then spark a dialogue on that topic with others. As you already have learned, people are happiest when life for them has meaning and purpose." Meera Lester

Are you at a crossroads? If you are at the intersection of making money or making a life, which will you choose? I find that when you are making a life, the money will usually follow. But if you are all about making money, if you're not careful, life will pass you by.

"I've learned that making a "living" is not the same as making a life." - Maya Angelou
