Funny Things Happen When We Get In A Hurry!

Rushing through life can get us into some pretty embarrassing predicaments!
Whoops! She Forgot Something
I had a friend tell me about a time when she and her husband, in an effort to save money, were riding to work together. Her husband had to be at work earlier than she did, so her morning routine became very rushed.
One day she was rushing to feed the dogs, rushing to eat her breakfast, make her lunch, get her daughter ready for school, and all of the other things that had to be done before going to work for the day. She took a deep breath, looked around the house one last time and ran to the car.
Much to her surprise, she had done quite well - except for one important thing: she forgot to put her skirt on.
Needless to say, she had to run back into the house and finish getting dressed.
Shoulder Pads Flapping In the Wind
Do you remember when the style was to wear sweaters with shoulder pads?
One day a co-worker came rushing into the office wearing her sweater wrong side out. Her shoulder pads were flapping in the wind. She looked like a bird coming in for a landing and didn't even realize what she had done.
Mom Had Good Intentions, But. . .
When my daughter was in the first grade her teacher gave all the students an assignment to dress like their favorite character for Storybook Day. Hether decided to dress like Huckleberry Finn. We got up early that day, painted big freckles on her face, dressed her in overalls, let her go barefooted, put a toy frog in her pocket gave her a fishing pole to carry, and sent her on her way. She was so cute!
Shortly after she arrived at school, I received a call from her teacher, informing me that Storybook Day was the next week.
Tunnel Vision
Most people hit the ground rushing from morning to evening. At the end of the day, they couldn't tell you what they had accomplished, if anything.
I've had friends pass me on the road and tell me later that they saw me and waved. They could tell that I must have been really busy because I didn't even notice them.
Has this happened to you too?
If you find yourself rushing through each day, I want to encourage you to slow down, breathe, and do your best to plan ahead. I heard it said once that if you fail to plan then you plan to fail. Taking time each day to plan for the next will also enable you to rest better at night.
To truly enjoy God's blessings, we must choose to live each day fully, not rush through it.
Thought for the day - Said the robin to the sparrow, "Friend, I would really like to know why these human beings rush about and worry so." Said the sparrow to the robin, "Friend I think that it must be that they have no heavenly father such as cares for you and me."
Have A Great Day!
